چکیده

To demonstrate the PASTA++ technique, sagittal and axial slices of the lower lumbar of a female volunteer was scanned under IRB protocol on a Toshiba 3T whole-body research system. Second order shims were used to improve B0 homogeneity. We used PASTA++ with FSE readout with the following parameters: TE/TR = 92/3000 ms, echo space = 7.0 ms, ETL = 23, matrix = 256 x 256, FOV = 25.6 x 25.6 cm, 5 slices, readout BW = 434 Hz/pixel, and 2 averages. Slice thickness was 4 mm in sagittal and 5 mm in axial images. The initial echo space was 8.0 ms to accommodate the longer excitation pulse as described above. For comparison, analogous CHESS images were acquired with identical parameters except TE = 91 ms, the slight difference due to regular echo spacing. SNR was measured in ROI at several locations in each image set. Fig 1. Slice displacement of fat excitation selection [blue hash] and refocus selection [orange hash] relative to water selection [gray] for PASTA and PASTA++. Center of water selection is marked by 0 on slice-select [SS] axis. PASTA++: B1and T1-robust fat suppression at 3T

Transmit B1+ field inhomogeneity and T1 estimation errors in breast DCE-MRI at 3 tesla.

PURPOSE To quantify B1+ variation across the breasts and to evaluate the accuracy of precontrast T1 estimation with and without B1+ variation in breast MRI patients at 3 Tesla (T). MATERIALS AND METHODS B1+ and variable flip angle (VFA) T1 mapping were included in our dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) breast imaging protocol to study a total of 25 patients on a 3.0T GE MR 750 system. We compute...

Simple approach for increasing SNR, reducing breast shading and improving fat suppression at 3T

Introduction Due to its exquisite sensitivity, breast MRI is becoming more and more popular for screening high-risk patients and for detecting high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ [1]. While 3T breast imaging yields clear benefits, such as increased SNR, allowing higher temporal or spatial resolution, it also comes with certain drawbacks. Most importantly, complaints about image shading and impr...

Fast and Robust B1 Mapping at 7T by the Bloch-Siegert Method

Introduction: B1 mapping has a variety of applications including the design of RF pulses in parallel transmit systems, and flip angle calibration for T1 mapping. Many existing B1 mapping methods suffer from T1 dependence, long scan time or inability to handle the large B1 inhomogeneity that occurs even across the human brain at 7T. The Bloch-Siegert B1 mapping method has been recently introduce...

Robust large field-of-view water selective imaging at 3T with parallel transmission

Introduction: Spectral fat suppressed or water selective imaging (e.g. using 1331 binomial pulses) for large fields-of-view is difficult to achieve, particularly at higher field because of problems in achieving a high-quality shim of the static B0 field. Off resonance effects cause the water and fat resonances to be position dependent, causing water only selection/fat suppression to fail in som...

Coronary artery imaging at 3T using a novel ECG gated SSFP-Dixon sequence and a motion insensitive view ordering scheme

Purpose: MR Coronary Artery Imaging (CAI) remains challenging due to the need for high spatial resolution as well as due to constraints imposed by physiological motion and the stringent requirements for fat and muscle suppression to visualize the arterial signal with good contrast. 3D ECG gated balanced steady state free precession (SSFP) imaging has shown great promise due to its high SNR, exc...
